Just an Ordinary Day

Hi my friends! It's just an ordinary day around here-

Dish washer loaded and ran, waiting to be unloaded

The rest of the dishes handwashed and put away

A load of towels almost ready for the dryer

Read science to two of my children

Started two experiments for biology

Started my grocery list

Made a plan of what I need to cook/when for Thanksgiving

Cleaned out leftovers from the fridge (which means more dishes to wash)

Got meat thawing for supper (Pearl's chili is on the menu)

The house is quiet as all my children are trying to finish up school by tomorrow so they can have a few extra days off for the holiday.

Today is much warmer than the last few days and the sun coming in the windows in addition to the quiet house are really making me want a nap!

I better get up and moving.

The washer just stopped so I guess it's time to reboot and get them in the dryer.

I also keep checking out my window, my THM order is scheduled to be delivered today :)

I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Even the ordinary days can be wonderful.

Blessings,
Rashel

Ironing, my least favorite chore

Good Monday morning friends!

I hope you are having a great day so far.

Mondays seem to be a day of catching up and getting back into routine for us. My children are busy working on school, except the oldest. He is already gone to work for the day.

Today I need to get laundry washed and hung out on the line; gotta get it done today before the rain moves in.

In addition to that and just regular chores, dinner, etc, I need to get some ironing done. It is one of my least favorite chores, but hubby really prefers his shirts less wrinkly. 😊

So, I'm going to go tackle that first and get it out of the way!

I do have turkey breast thawing for dinner and looked up some ideas for a THM dessert tonight. Hubby really likes berry cobbler, so I'm going to try to THMify one for us.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Have a blessed day my friends! Feel free to comment and let me know what your least favorite chore is!

I also updated my "About Me" page so make sure you check it out, I added a couple of new pictures too!

Get a fresh cup of coffee, get cozy and look around for awhile.

I sure do hope you enjoy your visit!

I've been so quiet lately...

I'm so sorry to any of you that follow my blog, I haven't posted in so long. I'm sure you will understand though, sometimes life just gets in the way of blogging. I have always put my family and my real life before this blog (as it should be) and therefore, I just haven't had time to write much lately. We haven't had any big things happening lately, just all the normal day to day stuff mixed in with the extra holiday stuff to do. I hope to get back to some kind of normalcy soon. In fact, today feels like the most "normal" day I've had in weeks. Anyhow, I am certain you all are busy yourselves and understand fully. I pray you have a most blessed day and I'll be back with a real post soon, Lord willing.

Blessings,
Rashel

Sorry I've been so quiet

I just wanted to take a minute to say hello and say that I'm sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. We've just been really busy around here and I'm trying not to spend too much time online if not necessary; so blogging has taken a backseat. I do hope to be able to get into a routine soon and be able to blog more. I miss sharing with all of you and hearing from you. Things are going well around here and we are trying to get into our schedule of schooling and keeping up with all the other chores as well. I'm sure most of you know the feeling.
So, anyway, I hope you are all doing well, enjoying fall and loving on your families. I'll try to be back soon with a "real" blog post :)

Blessings,
Rashel

Busy Summer Days

I just wanted to do a quick check in since I haven't posted in awhile. We have been having a good summer, although extremely hot; over 100 most days! We've spent several days at our friends private creek having lots of fun while cooling off. We've also been rodeoing, VBS, helping friends move and just the normal day to day stuff. It hasn't been anything exciting, just life stuff but we have kept busy. So, I just wanted to check in to say hello and hopefully I'll be back to blogging regularly soon. In the meantime, enjoy your summer and your family!

Blessings my friends,
Rashel

Thank you!!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your prayers. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate them. Things are finally starting to slow down a little around here. There is still alot to do of course, but the major immediate stuff is taken care of. Now it is waiting for clean up and bulldozing before we can do much more. I've been able to help several of my family members quite a bit since the storm and I'm so thankful God has put me in a position to be able to do so. Thank you again for your prayers and for your understanding of my absence on here.

Today we actually get to stay home and get some things done around here. Just to give you an idea of what it is like here, this will be my third day home in the last 12 days! You can just imagine all the chores I'm behind on, but it's okay. I had more important things to do and I know I will get caught up eventually. I also need to go get groceries, I haven't done any major shopping since the storm and since losing everything in the fridge. So that's my plan for today.

I plan to finish up the ABC posts next week and I really appreciate your patience with me! :)

Blessings my friends,
Rashel

Satan works in little things

I have come to realize that sometimes Satan can do more damage in the little areas of our lives than in the big areas. It is easier to realize he is trying to tear us down when we go through a big trial, but sometimes I forget he is also tearing me down when he is in the little things that aren't going right.  For instance, yesterday I had a headache all day and was nauseous some of the time on top of that. I will also admit I was in a bad mood and cranky with my children. They weren't obeying properly and we just in general weren't having a very good day. Well, I did end up apologizing for my attitude and that area got better. This morning the children were not getting along and not listening to me. So, we sat down and read some in the bible and discussed how we are to treat each other and what God tells us to do. I was just thinking though that I sometimes don't realize I'm letting the enemy in my home by my poor attitude and my children's poor attitude. The little things sneak in while the big things hit us in the face, but the little things matter too. Just my random thoughts.

Rashel

The never ending struggle....

I find myself having the same inner struggle over and over. The struggle I'm talking about it is between eating healthy and baking for my family all those yummy treats like cinnamon rolls, brownies and home made bread. I know all the reasons to eat healthy and proper food combining is the very best way for me to eat, that I have found. I also know that I truly enjoy baking for my family and yes, I bake from scratch with the healthiest ingredients I can get at the time. But, when I bake, I have to EAT it too!! Now, homemade bread may not sound like a bad thing but when you eat three slices while it is warm and fresh out of the oven, it's not so good for you! I like baking goodies for my family and cooking their favorite meals for dinner, but that doesn't line up with the way I need to eat. So, what am I to do? I've decided to proper food combine as often as I can while baking for my family occasionally. I can have those goodies once in a while, without feeling guilty. I can cook their favorite meals even if they aren't properly combined, just not every night. I have to learn moderation is the key. Now, before you think I'm eating this weigh for selfish reasons, it isn't about losing weight. I have trouble with my stomach when I don't properly combine my food. So, it's for health, not vanity. Although, to be honest, I do lose a few unwanted pounds when I pfc consistently. I know you probably couldn't care less, but I'm sharing anyway :) Sometimes, I just feel the need to "think out loud".

Hi!!

Just checking in. We are at the library, so I'm able to get online. We came last week but I had forgotten it was President's day, therefore, the library was closed :( We try to save gas by limiting our trips to town and that was our one trip for that week. Every Monday we come to town to go to the library for books and then go by our milk supplier on the way home and pick up two gallons of raw milk! Yum Yum!! Some weeks we make more than one trip, especially on grocery week but I try very hard to limit them.
Thanks for the sweet comments on my last post! We are looking into getting our own internet supply at home, but with dh's work schedule, it's hard to get anywhere when they are open and check it out. Last week we planned to go but on his day off it rained all day. So, instead we stayed in and had a nice relaxing day on the couch watching movies!
I should be able to get back online in a couple days at a friend's house. I hope you are all doing well and living in accordance with God's will in your lives.

Blessings,
Rashel

I do care....

I have come to another realization while I have been without internet, I do care what the world thinks. I find myself worried that because I am not able to blog consistently that my followers will stop following, or that I won't get new ones because I have not posted recently. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE having followers and knowing that I am not talking to myself on here; but, I can't get caught up on worrying about what is going on in blog land while I am unable to check in. I just have to trust that when God decides to give me back internet, I will still have some wonderful friends to chat with, to encourage and be encouraged by. I'm at the library right now getting more books for school and obviously, using the internet. I haven't been able to get out to my friends or to the library to check in because of the crazy weather we have had lately. We have so much snow on the ground, I'm not sure it will melt until April! Oh and they say we are getting more in the next two days! So, we just hunker down and enjoy staying warm and cozy inside. Lots of reading and good movie watching :)
Ok, so all of this to say, that while I am temporarily away, please enjoy some of my past posts and stick around until I make it back. I should have lots to say when I get back online and have more time :)

Blessings to you all,
Rashel

Hi and welcome!

I just wanted to take a minute to say hello to my new followers and say I am so glad you have stopped by! Thank you so much for the sweet and encouraging comments you have left. I can't take the time to answer each one right now as I would like to, but thank you! I also want to thank Crystal Miller from The Family Homestead for publishing one of my posts in her newsletter. I cannot tell you how humbled I am by that. I admire her and love reading her posts and articles and I was so blessed when she wanted to use one of mine in her February newsletter! Thank you again Crystal.

Blessings to you all,
Rashel

Schedules...

Sometimes I wonder why we aren't getting much done during the day lately, then I realize it could be because I let my children sleep in until 9 or so, then they eat breakfast about 9:30 or so. Then they have to do animal chores, which lately also includes playing in the snow for awhile. So by the time all that is done and they are in and undressed of outside coveralls and such, it is almost lunchtime!! I really may have to consider an earlier bedtime and earlier awake time. However, I treasure my quiet time in the mornings, sitting at my kitchen table, drinking coffee and spending time with God. So, I will pray about it and then see what He would have me do. One of the benefits of being a homeschooling mama is I can set our schedule. Who says we have to start school at 9:00? Or even have breakfast done by then? I mentioned an earlier bedtime, but one reason I let them stay up until 10:00 is so they can have time with Daddy. Some nights he doesn't get home until 7, then we eat supper and an early bedtime would really cut into their time with him. So, there again, it's good we can set our own schedule of what works for our family.

Rashel

Out of my slump...

The last couple weeks I have been in a terrible slump. I have had no energy or motivation to get done all that needs done around the homestead. Today, I just feel different. I feel ready to tackle the day and ready to get some things done. I don't know if my body has been fighting off the flu, (which is going around like crazy and I do have the sinus congestion)or if I've just been lazy. Either way, I feel better today and ready for the day. My to do list is ready and waiting for me. So, I don't want to waste alot of time on here right now. I do have some things on my heart that I want to blog about, but they can wait until I get some stuff done around my home. Have a blessed day and know that if you are in a slump, you aren't alone. I believe we all have them on occasion. Just do your best while you are in it, pray for God to help you out of it and don't let it consume you. It won't last forever.
Blessings,
Rashel

A new beginning..

I'm ready for this new year! Last year was an amazing year! I saw so much spirtitual growth in my family, I cannot even to begin to express how thankful to God I am for that. I pray this new year will continue that growth. I believe God has good things in store for this year and I am anxious to see them.

I am also beginning my journey in FLYing again. If you don't know what that means, check out here. I used to fly consistently so I know it works, I just have to DO it. This week I am working on getting my schedules, routines, school assignments and some decluttering done. There are alot of things I need to get done before I feel like I can really stick to my routines and schedules, so I plan to work on those this week. The kids will start a light school schedule tomorrow and we will hit it heavy next week, that will give me a little more time to get ready. :-)

I pray everyone has a blessed day. If you happen to stop by here, will you leave me a comment to say hi?

So many things going on..

There is just so much going on around me, I don't know what to post about. I have several friends going through major trials right now and I am praying for them but wish I could help them to see to rely FULLY on God. My family has a bug going around right now and although we are so much better off than we could be, because ours is temporary and so many family have chronic illnesses. Still the bug gets everything out of whack and zaps your energy. I'm struggling because I don't know if I am just out of energy or being lazy! I'm reading up on flylady today trying to motivate myself. I've decided to work on my to do lists and organize my control journal today, while sitting and resting and then try to jump in tomorrow. Surely I'll feel well by then.
We have also joined a new church since I was on here last, we absolutely love it! I have seen an amazing amount of growth in my whole family since joining there. I will save all of that for another post.
Enough rambling for now, I will post more when I actually have a specific topic in mind :-)
May God bless each of you!

Two years today!!

I just realized that it was exactly two years ago today that I started this blog! Wow, it doesn't seem like that long but maybe that is because for the last year I haven't been able to blog much. I truly pray that will change soon. I miss sharing with you and hearing from all of you.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to A Woman's Walk!

Blessings,
Rashel

It's another day

I know I have been gone for sometime and I am probably just posting this for myself now, unless by some chance I have some very, very faithful followers that will stop by and read it too. I have really missed sharing with you and being encouraged by you. I suppose you all know my computer died and I have been without internet at home, that makes it hard to post. I hope to be online again soon, but for now I am on a borrowed computer and will post when I can.

I have been going back and reading some of my old posts, it is really interesting to remember my feelings on things I've written about before. I encourage each of you to journal or blog and then go back sometime and read what your thoughts were. If you already have a blog, take some time to go back in history a bit. You just might encourage yourself with your previous posts. I'm off to read some more and I promise to get back on just as soon as I can.

Blessings,
Rashel

Trying to get back to normal

It seems I have been having a hard time lately getting things back to normal around here. I don't know if it is a true lack of energy, laziness or just that I got so out of my routine I can't get back into it. I have gotten back to my morning devotion times, which I ashamedly had let slide for awhile. It really feels good to have that time to start my day. I can't stay on long today, my dh and two big boys just got back from football camp, so I should get off now.

I will be back soon, probably Monday, and hopefully be able to report that I am getting back into my normal routine. I think I will pray about it.

Blessings,
Rashel

My confession of guilt

Okay dear friends, I am laying it out for you. I have had this feeling of guilt hovering over me because I have not been consistently posting here. I have decided however, that hanging onto that guilt is silly and only adding stress to my life - which I don't need! I have been thinking about this area of concern and have come to the conclusion that I will post when I can and when God has placed something on my heart. I know all of you will understand, you all have lives of your own and understand how things can come up and keep us busy. What is keeping me busy right now? Children, homeschool, spring cleaning and a goat that is ready to go into labor at any moment. Oh yes, baseball season has also arrived and this year we have four children playing on three different teams! Add that to the frequent storms which require me to shut down my computer and that equals no time to post. So, all of this to say, that I am laying down my guilt and relying on the assumption that you have compassion and understanding for me. I do suggest that if you don't want to have to check this site all of the time for updates, just enter your email on the sidebar and you will get the latest posts emailed to you as soon as I post. I don't send any other emails and I don't give out any information about you at all! It is just an easy way to stay updated without having to come to this site all the time.

Until my next post, I have a great post from another lovely lady for you to enjoy. Visit Kim here to read "Our Places on The Team". She does a wonderful job encouraging us wives and moms in our God given roles.

Blessings,
Rashel
