ABC's of a Godly Home Day D

Day D – Doing it for God and Dividing up time

Spiritual Challenge D- Do it for God. Colossians 3:23, 24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” We need to remember that everything we do is to be done as if we were doing it for God, because we are. When you scrub the toilets, mop the floor or wipe your baby’s nose you are to do it for God. This verse speaks a couple things to me. 1: it says we are to be pleasing God, not other people. 2: we are to be working heartily. The first tells me that I am to be concerned more about what God thinks of my home keeping and child training abilities than what the world thinks. We are to be God pleasers, not man pleasers. Let me clarify though that we ARE to care what our husbands think. We are to be pleasing to our husbands too, but if we are pleasing God, we will most likely be pleasing our husbands in the process. The second thing tells me we are to be working heartily, that isn’t doing just enough to get by and it isn’t doing the job halfway. It is working hard and doing the job completely. We are to be serving Christ and we do that in everything we do. We serve Him by doing our best at the job that He has given us and in this instance, it is being a keeper of our home. Today, I want you to meditate on Colossians 3:23, 24 and ask yourself if this has been your attitude. If not, repent and ask God to help you have this mindset from now on. It may be helpful to you to write this verse down and post it where you can see it throughout the day.

Physical Challenge D- Divide your time. Today you are going to start making your schedule; I said start, not complete. Get some notebook paper, cardstock paper or even poster board and then I want you to divide it into thirty minute increments. It doesn't have to be perfect, you can always change it later. Your top time needs to be the time you will wake up in the mornings and the bottom time is when you will go to bed. You will need a box in between for each 30 minute increment. Don’t worry about filling these boxes in yet, just make your chart. On my chart, I have several columns; one for me and one for each of my children. You can see a picture of it here. That’s it for today; just get your time chart done. Don’t start writing in the boxes and trying to jump ahead, that will come later.

You are almost through an entire week, how is it going? Are you seeing a change in your attitude? I pray that you are and I pray this is encouraging and helpful to you.
